I’ve had a bit of a journey with my skin, I’ve gone to dermatologists, gotten prescriptions, tried expensive products, etc. I’d say I have dry combination, acne-prone skin for reference! I struggle with cystic acne on my forehead, tiny bumps on my forehead and dry patches.
I’d say I’ve come up with how I can treat acne and mostly prevent it. So I’m sharing a few products I recommend to remove and mostly prevent acne as well as tips!
MORNING AND NIGHT SKINCARE
To remove all my makeup I use the Garnier Micellar Water. I do this whenever I wear makeup to make sure my cleanser really gets into my skin! This gets off even my waterproof mascara.
Starting off, in the morning and night I wash my face with the Clinique Acne Solutions Cleansing Foam! This cleanser contains salicylic acid which is great for deep cleaning your face.
Then only at night I use a Spa Sonic face brush with the Clinique cleanser. This is so good at making sure you’ve removed all your dead skin cells to avoid clogged pores!
After washing my face, I tone with the Clinique Acne Solutions Clarifying Lotion. This also has salicylic acid to clear out my pores. I just put this on a cotton pad and sweep it over my face morning and night!
Morning and night I use the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizering Lotion (the one for dry to dry combination). I end it with this moisturizer for skincare in the morning.
To finish off night, I use the Neutrogena On-the-Spot benzoyl peroxide spot treatment! I apply this to any spots I have, it works especially well on cystic spots. I also use a Burt’s Bees lip balm morning and night.
MY FAVORITE FACEMASKS
My current favorite facemask is the Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay!! I’m not going to say much about cause I just got it and I’m doing a full review on this in a few weeks so I can test it more…
When my skin is feeling dry I use the Burt’s Bees Intense Hydration Treatment Mask! This helps with dry patches and acne scarring so much.
My other favorite mask is the Lush Mask of Magnanimity!! To me this is a mixture of the last two facemasks, it doesn’t dry out my face but it helps with acne too.
Lastly, I actually use this on my back to prevent acne but aloe vera works really well for anywhere acne!
- eat healthy and take care of yourself, it manifests on your skin
- drink lemon water and green tea, everyone says this but it can help cleanse your body!
- take makeup/foundation breaks
- wash your makeup brushes and sponges
- change your bedding and pillowcase
- don’t pick, pop or touch your face
- use a spot treatment!!!
I hope these help you out too. Remember though, you’re not any less beautiful because your skin isn’t perfect!!
