a few days on orcas

last week on labor day weekend i went to orcas island like we do every year to stay at our orcas house and since it would be my last travel for a while i knew i just had to make a post on what i did there. it’s nothing too crazy cause we go there enough and its a really chill place but i had a blast so i hope you enjoy this travel diary…

to get to orcas we got all packed up early in the morning and drove to the ferry. we stopped for the healthy breakfast staple of mcdonalds because i am just healthy like that of course. when we got there we just waited a bit for the ferry and then took the ferry to orcas island. once we got to orcas we went to the store to get food and i found kombucha on tap! i was genuinely very happy about this cause for some reason it’s extra fresh and refreshing so i got a berry mint one from the island market. i was going to drive around the island to practice for my test but i forgot my permit so that one didn’t happen…

then for the first day we went to the lake and my sister swam while i rented a paddle board! let me just start off by saying um i hate that these photos include my feet cause feet are gross and volleyball ruined mine but there wasn’t much i could do to avoid feet in the photos. i have one of those waterproof phone case thingies and i was out alone so i played music on my phone while i went around the lake. i actually went out to the other side of the lake and decided to go for a swim so i tied my phone to the paddle board and jumped off and swam around a little. this was the hottest day so the water was super refreshing and nice! i was surprised that my balance was actually pretty damn great if you ask me, i didn’t even almost fall. then we just went back and chilled and ate dinner and stuff.

the next morning we went for a morning hike. we went about halfway up mount constitution and did the little summit hike which is actually one we have never done before and definitely did not regret it! the views were actually incredible and the clouds looked really cool but no rain came out of them surprisingly enough for washington. mount constitution shows the view of most of the san jaun islands and you can even see canada from the top which is incredible. if you ever get the chance i can’t recommend it enough because its literally incredible.

then for the afternoon we drove into town. i started off my of course getting coffee and taking photos, nobody is suprised one bit… but hey they are cute sooo! we went to brown bear baking in eastsound for coffee and if you’re not vegan they have incredble looking pasteries too. then we just walked around for a bit and looked at some of the cute little shops. lastly we stopped real quick at the only place on the island that has wifi, the library. we stopped just so i could upload a blog post and my dad could check in with work, we have service at the house but it’s a little sketchy.

then before we left the next day cause i had to get back to school, we went to the lake one last time. it was super super sunny so i decided to “tan” on a towel for a bit while my family went boating. i say tan like that cause i was wearing sunscreen cause um no more skin cancer scares for me (wishful thinking). i also of course got some sorbet in a waffle cone cause how in the world could i resist it. then we went to the grocery to get some snacks for the car ride and ferry ride home. we went back to the house and packing everything up and left.

yeah so then we just went home and the next day i started school! i hope you enjoyed this quick lil travel post.
