my skincare routine + tips

To be honest, taking care of your skin can be very therapeutic and relaxing to do!! At the end of the day it’s really nice just to wash your face, apply a few products and relax. I find skincare to be one of the most enjoyable things and it’s honestly so fun. My skin has actually been clearing up more than ever and these products and tips are why!!

I honestly can’t really figure out my skin type exactly but I’d say combo, because it can be very dry and a bit oily. I struggle with cystic acne and bumps on my forehead and hormonal acne on my chin area.

Starting off by obviously washing my face because what’s the point of doing any of this if your face is dirty and gross!! I recently switched over to the Soap and Glory Vitamin C Cleanser and I’m obsessed. I love the fresh scent and smell of this cleanser, it really refreshes you in the morning especially. At night I use this with a Spa Sonic Cleansing Brush to really get squeaky clean skin! Both these products are so effective without irritating my skin.

After washing my face I go in with the Clinique Acne Solutions Clarifying Lotion. I just apply a little bit of this to a cotton pad and swipe it all over my face. This uses salicylic acid to really clean out your pores, treat and avoid breakouts. I used to use way more acne treatments and products with salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide but I find that my skin has been better with less intense products!! This helps out especially with small bumps on your forehead. I don’t use this every time though because sometimes my skin can get sensitive loll

To finish off, I just moisturize my whole face with the Clinique Dramatically Different moisturizer! This really does make my face ‘dramatically different’ *wink wink*. Awful puns aside, this is soo good and makes my skin super soft. It also definitely doesn’t clog my pores like some other might, it’s really great!! You’re going to see a good amount of Clinique in this post because it really works well for my skin.

At night, before doing all these things I remove any makeup I’m wearing that day with the Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm. I love this because most other makeup removers can irritate my skin but this is amazing. It literally melts everything off my face and soothes it too. My mom got a few sample sizes of this when she bought a bunch of other products so I’m set with this product!

After doing all these things I also go in with my Mario Badescu Drying Lotion, which is amazing!! This stuff will literally make a pimple decrease if not disappear overnight. I dip a Q-tip down to the bottom of this bottle and apply to any active acne I have and go to sleep. I find that this skincare routine especially at night can make your skin literally clear and improve overnight!!

I did a review on this mask a few months ago and you can read more  here!! But to sum it up, the Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay Mask is amazing!! I mix a spoonful of this with a spoonful of ACV and boom you’ve got a mask that will get rid of all the toxins and any buildup in your skin. This basically dries out on your face and becomes really tight and then you wash it off and almost any kind of blackheads or gunk is gone.

Another one of my favorite facemasks is the Shea Moisture Clarifying Mud Mask! This also is great for helping your skin but this ones lots more gentle and it smells great. I do a facemask about twice a week and I alternate between these two, sometimes using a sheetmask instead!

Finally I will also whenever I randomly remember will apply aloe vera to my back since I workout and play volleyball so sometimes I’ll get breakouts there too… Aloe vera is really one of the most helpful things for any part of your skin and it’s again, very soothing! You can use this anywhere to help with breakouts, irritation, sunburn, etc.

  • always remember that acne or not having perfect skin doesn’t make you any less beautiful!!
  • wash your sheets
  • get a good nights sleep
  • eat healthy, it manifests on the outside
  • try to reduce stress
  • don’t pick at or pop pimples
  • wash makeup brushes and don’t wear foundation everyday

Hopefully this post helps you out and these tips are effective for you too!

Comment your favorite skincare products/tips!!
